Every June when the sun goes down

The fireflies start dancing around

They put on quite a show

And I wonder if they even know it

They’re only here for a couple of weeks

And it makes me sad when they start to leave

The best things are like that

They tend to not last too long

I like to imagine them smiling back at me

They know their purpose

And it’s not a burden at all
